Cricket is a very popular sport in the Caribbean and St Maarten is no exception. Practicing the sport has been difficult because the basic infrastructure needed was damaged during hurricane Irma and not fully restored. The adult teams have made some repairs to their facilities but school cricket has remained dormant for a few years. This project will restore the nets, poles and other basic equipment to allow kids to safely practice the sport of cricket. In addition, the coaches will be reengaged and schools will be encouraged to rejoin the program.
Cricket St. Maarten Association is the governing body for Cricket on St. Maarten. They are a full-time member of the Leeward Islands Cricket Board which is the body responsible for governing for Cricket in the Caribbean area.
