ECO SXM Foundation will develop a greenhouse that will serve as a model and training facility for aspiring horticulturists. The risks associated with the over-reliance on imported food became very apparent after hurricane Irma and during the COVID-19 pandemic. There is a large movement in the community to grow more food locally. This project supports those goals and wants to contribute to solving the issues surrounding food security.
The grant will be used to construct a greenhouse to grow a variety of local produce. The greenhouse will be used as a training facility for aspiring farmers and horticulturists
The beneficiaries of this project are the 40 persons expected to be trained during the project implementation period and the CSOs who will receive fresh produce free of charge or at reduced prices.
