Girls’ soccer was becoming very popular prior to hurricane Irma but struggled to regain the high level of participation after the passing of the hurricane. This project aims to attract a new crop of girls’ soccer players to revive the sport and provide an opportunity and venue for girls to engage in physical activities.
The grant will be used to cover the costs of materials, trainers and venue costs to practice the sport and aims to attract 100 new female soccer players between the ages of 8-21.
FC Soualiga Soccer Association, originally established as an only girls/female soccer club, strives to be again a key player for soccer in Dutch Sint Maarten, managing and regulating various aspects of the sport at both grassroots and professional levels.
