FFF has established a Client-Choice-Food-Market and thrift store (Freegan Food Market).
The market caters to some 70 families per week, who were identified as living below the poverty line. These families get the opportunity to shop for groceries at the Freegan Food Market just like any other family would and are able to make their own choices on what to purchase, in a unique way, thereby retaining their pride and dignity in the process.
Freegan Food Foundation fights food waste and strives to end hunger on the island of St.Maarten. The Foundation started its work right after hurricane Irma, since food security both then and now is one of St. Maarten’s core challenges.
They collaborate with wholesalers, supermarkets, hotels and restaurants to collect surplus food and redistribute it to those in need. The main goal is to provide adequate and healthy food which meets the basic needs of those who need it most.
