The facility where all activities are organized was severely damaged by hurricane Irma in 2017. It requires fundamental repairs (roof, windows, hurricane shutters) in order to be able to meet its main aim, support the needy, homeless, sick, less fortunate and elderly people, who cannot benefit from a social safety net, with basic needs and requirements. The target group ideally will be offered a decent place where they can catch their breath for some time.
The foundation is rather new but as individual Nanny Nurssy is famous on the island because she provides support to needy people already for over 35 years. As she is getting aged, the initiative must continue. Her own house is an open space for whoever is in need of support. The ground floor is used both as office and storage room where people can collect items they need (both food and non-food). Donations in kind are stored and given to the target group. Those is need for shelter were offered the opportunity to stay, on a temporary basis, at the house.
