This project aims to regularly organize activities for 100 seniors keeping them physically, mentally and socially active. This increases their quality of life. The foundation’s regular operational expenses are financed by SMDF, the R4CR grant is limited to the activities and related costs for keeping the elderly active and organize social activities for/with them.
The Home Away From Home Foundation (HAFH) was established in 2003 after recognizing that there are seniors/elderly folks who were just sitting at home looking at the four walls day after day without any form of activity/recreation. Some of them lived alone, some with family members who would leave them at home while they are at work and there were those who had family members around them, but felt alone.
The HAFH is a foundation that has a membership of 100+ seniors whom before the Corona Virus were meeting at the John Larmonie Center every week on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays. The foundation has a membership-based structure which gives them the opportunity to see each other regularly and participate in a variety of activities.
