SECDA, the umbrella organization of daycare centers and after schools, will centralize the purchase of food items for all participating day care centers. This is a continuation of the QW-2 project. Approximately 760 children received a daily warm meal. This project aims at alleviating the pressure on the parents and daycares who are still struggling after hurricane Irma and the COVID-19 pandemic. Many day care teachers reported that some kids don’t receive the nutrition they need for proper growth and development.
A food storage course and a course for teachers and kitchen staff on preparing different healthy foods that appeal to children have been incorporated into the program.
SECDA is an umbrella organization representing 23 preschools and after-schools on Sint Maarten. It is tasked with providing training and development for its teachers and improving the general wellbeing of the children under their care.
